Four Score and…

…okay, maybe just four years ago!

When asked if I am going down to the second inauguration of President Obama today, I keep telling people that I’m just getting feeling back in my toes from four years ago.  While not entirely true, I do want to give other people the opportunity to participate and not clog up the Mall and services downtown.  I went to the second  inauguration of President Bush in college, so I’ve been twice, and I am positive that I will participate again in the future.  When I can take my kids…when we have the first woman president…!!!

I do think it’s an important event for people to participate in, regardless of your political affiliations.  I’m deeply patriotic and very honored to live in DC. I CHOOSE to live here, and it’s so special to have opportunities to participate in history.  Yes, I cry at Fourth of July parades.  I’ll probably cry during today’s ceremonies just watching on TV.

If you’re headed out or already downtown (I think we were on the mall by like 5am four years ago!) stay warm and safe!

Also in the category of January things…

Eight and a half years ago, we used CraigsList to find a new roommate for our Arlington townhouse.  We found Annie, a recent grad of Mary Washington moving to the area for a new job.  Little did I know that she would not only be a great roommate but become one of my closest friends.  And, as luck would have it in 2008, something special happened between Annie and my second brother, my cousin Bruce.  Well, this weekend, they got engaged!

In 2010 Annie was one of my maids as well!

And Bruce did a reading at our ceremony.

At this point, I could do a commercial for CraigsList!  Thank you, CraigsList! And, you’re welcome Bruce!
