If I had a million dollars…I’d be rich!
On the rare evenings that I work out at the gym (you know, five times as busy, 20 times as hot and stinky! I prefer my early morning workouts thanks!) I pass the time lip syncing to Lady GaGa and Metallica running through the shuffle while I watch TMZ and Wheel of Fortune. The end of tonight’s work out coincided with the end of Wheel and I totally knew the answer (phrase: Imagine That).
And I thought to myself, if I won $39,000, like tonight’s contestant, what would I do? Better yet, if I was on Deal or No Deal and I won a million dollars, what would I do?
Specifically, and please don’t judge me, I have wedding brain, I wondered, “How would my wedding be different if I won a million dollars?”
I’m by no means planning a budget wedding. It’s not even in the neighborhood of budget friendly. We have blown our wad, so to speak, on the location. And now, I find myself trying to watch the costs of every other detail. Trying my best to come in under our budget outline. Our excessive budget outline that lives in a Google Doc. I feel like I keep trying to tell H how “good” I’m being by watching the costs at this point. As if I am sacrificing something by going with less expensive options.
But truth be told, I decided during my last two minutes on the elliptical tonight, I wouldn’t change anything. I wouldn’t go out and hire a more expensive DJ or photographer. I wouldn’t skip David’s Bridal and head to Georgetown for my Amsale dreams. I would keep planning this wedding, with this budget, minding my expenses as much as I can.
Maybe I just wouldn’t feel bad about the funds we are already spending. But truth be told, I don’t actually feel that bad.
P.S. Hi! I’m back. It’s been a while. But I love writing. I love this blog, my little space of the internets. And I love all four of you who check in! I’ve got a lot to catch you up on!

You have a great attitude. I was pretty happy with all the details of my own wedding and can’t think of much that I would add. I think you must reach this point sometime during the planning. It’s only before you start booking things that you see these limitless options and feel greedy.
And welcome back!
I agree with Kate. And I did ours on a pretty shoestring budget, but it was still FABULOUS in my mind, and that’s what really matters! Glad you’re back – missed your blog!
